Chapter 31 This time let’s make it work

I remember being 11 years old telling my dad that when i get older i would be the biggest musician ever. I wanted to be a drummer or a singer anything I wasn’t really sure …but I knew I wanted to make it..I wanted to have the cars, the money, the big house. I wanted people to know my name
Now was my chance…
“Yeah Wayne we should be down there by 9 or 10 tonight so tell Mike ” I told my man Wayne “Igt lil bro holla at me …and drive safe” he said I hung up the phone and sighed, I looked around my bedroom and stared at the pics in my room, There were pics of my dad and I at a baseball game, a pic of my mom kissing me on my cheek on my first day of Pre- K ,but the picture that grabbed my attention the most was the pic of Chris,Barry (Mijo),Adrian,Drew,Gui,Chris’ dad and I at chris’ 10th birthday party. I laughed i love them niggas,sometimes i wonder why God took chris’ dad . I prayed nothing bad would happen between any of us but something did … Extreme guilt boiled in my body, i felt bad.. i betrayed my brother. I stared at the pic and looked at chris who had his arm around my shoulder smiling crazy… What the fuck was I thinking ?
“Elijah James … I think it’s about time you boys head on the road” I heard my mother say… I turned around and smiled “Okay” I said I picked up my 5 bags and walked outside, my sister was outside on the steps staring at my car..
“Eli do you have to leave ? ” Dominique asked me as i packed my bags in my Ferrai. I smiled at her , ” Yeah .. It’s not for long though .. I’ll be back for holidays ” I said walking back out the car. I gave my mother a warm kiss on the cheek and my father a tender hug, i looked down at my baby brother Andrew and smiled ” You the man ” I Said to him, he laughed, I walked back over to Dominique and kissed her on the forehead..i watched the tear drop fall down her eye lids. I looked at her and smiled ” Dom don’t cry please ” I said wiping her tears , i hugged her and walked back to my car.
I blew a kiss to my mother one last time and got inside my car.. I headed to Adrians’ house to pick him up a long with Mijo and Drew.
I wasn’t sure how this trip was going to go.. the idea of having Mijo and Chris living in the same house , and me in between there was destined to be a problem..but my problem was guilt..i felt bad.. even though chris knew.. i just felt dumb.
But.. We will have to see what the future holds..Good bye NY.. we shall meet again.
1 hour before

” Our Flight’s going to leave soon ” My mother said with Blake on her hip and Christian by her side.. i didn’t want to leave them..i wanted to go with them, but i knew i couldn’t.
” Okay” I said smiling. ” Take care of yourself, I spoke to Aaron before we got here,i told him about keeping the house up to par” She said , i stood there with my hands in my pockets.
” Don’t worry baby .. We’ll be just a plane ride away” My mom said, i looked up at her and hugged her tightly not wanting to let go.
” Here take this.. but don’t read it until you’re ready..and trust me i’ll know when you read it ” She said handing me a letter, i took it and placed it in my back pocket. I looked over at Christian as he listened to his Ipod .. ” C You the Man .. for now hold it down in Cali” I said he smiled and nodded his head. I looked over at Blake and he stared at me
” Where you goin ?” He asked .. ” I’m going on a trip with my friends I said to him, his lips started to quiver ” Why you leave me ?” He said .. ” I’m not leaving forever.. I’m gonna come see you or you can come to my house and I’ll take you to Disney Land” I said , he wiped his tears ” Really?” He asked ” Yeah ” I said. I took off the Kerby chain i had around my neck and gave it to him.. ” Take care of this ” I said to him, he smiled.
” Okay baby we gotta get going.. Take Care I’ll call you when I reach Love you ” My mother said kissing me on the head.
” Love you more ” I said and she walked off into the airport.
I headed back in my car to go meet The guys at my crib.. it was time to go..
20 min later..
” Gui when the fuck are you not eating ” I said to Gui as he stuffed a cheeseburger into his mouth..
He laughed ” Sorry yo..I’m hungry” He said.. I placed my 4 bags and Guis 4 bags into the back of my car.
” Ight all we gotta do is wait for these niggas and my cousin Aaron and we out this bitch ” I said smiling, i looked over to Gui to see if he was thinking what i was thinking
” Nah i can’t believe it either ” He said .. I lived in New York for 21 Years.. never left unless i was going to Virginia or Cali to visit relatives, but i never lived out of N.Y.
” Yellow bitch ” I heard someone say It was my cousin Aaron.. ” Pretty Green Blue Eyed Ugly ass NIGGA ” I screamed giving him dapp. He dapped Gui and sat on the steps next to me ..
” Y’all ready ?” He asked me ..
” Yes and No ” I said ” Yes cause i want something New and No because.. i’m missing something ” I said
Gui looked over at me cause he knew exactly what i was referring to, I just aint feel right leaving NY Without Jerlisa, I’m never gonna loose faith in us.
” Wait Gui.. I know ya girl aint coming down right ?” I asked him, not really curious over his girl but i knew if Guis’ girl was coming there would be a high percent chance So was Jerlisa.
” Yeah she is.. but she has to go visit her grandparents or something in Florida then she’s coming down To ATL ” Gui said looking at the sky ” She’s not coming with her ” Gui said .. i guess referring to Jerlisa
” Oh ” I simply said.. “Here these niggas go ” Gui said pointing to the street where Eli was driving. Eli parked his car in front of my crib and walked out ” Let’s get this show on the road ” He said smiling.
I Went over to him and dapped him ” I got a surprise for you as soon as we get settled ” He said smiling. I looked at him confused ” Ight ” I simply said I dapped Adrian, and Drew and stared at Mijo..i still couldn’t trust him.
” Ight y’all ready?” I asked everybody..they all nodded .Gui and Drew got inside my car and Adrian and Mijo got inside Elijahs’ .
I walked over to Aaron and hugged him ” Ight Fam i’ll holla at you later.. take good care of this house I’ll call you when I’m close to the L ” I said he nodded his head. I looked back at my house.. i was about to leave everything .. All the memories.
I jogged to my car and put on seat belt.. I plugged in my Ipod and let Nas’ lyrics run through my mind.
” I gotta make a quick stop real quick ” I said to Eli, he nodded his head and followed behind me.
5 min later I arrived in front of Edenwald Cemetery , I jogged inside and walked to Clints’ grave.. I looked down at the time and sighed ” I’ma do it big ..Just for you Pops i promise i won’t fuck up..I’ma make you proud.. You and grams ..I Love you and keep watching over me Dad” I kissed my fingers and touched the grave. I walked back to my car and looked at Gui.
” Let’s do this ” I said he smiled and we were off

I walked slowly over to the customer i had in my chair and applied Vaseline to his tattoo , I wrapped his leg and sat him in the chair for him to wait for the receipt.
” Hello bitch ” I heard someone yell as the doorbell chimed ..I peeped my head to See Kimmie skipping through the door .
” Watch your mouth in front of the baby ” I said smiling, she looked around ” Uhh what baby “She asked
I pointed to my stomach, She sat down and looked at my threw her shades ” Hey baby you’re mamma is crazy as hell.. and she sucks ..” I cut her off ” hey… we’re not alone ” I said looking at my customer.
” I was gonna say sucks dick.. ” Kimmie said .. i sighed and handed the customer his recipt.
I sat down in the chair and rubbed my belly, i went to the doctors yesterday and turns out I’m 6 months pregnant, I’m not as big as you expect because of my past problems and my lack of Prenatel vitamins.
” Jerlisa are you ready?” Kimmie asked ” For what…” I asked taking out my vitamins out of my bag ” For Florida ” She screamed
” Bitch you acting like i’ma be up in the beach or going to the club.. I’m 6 months pregnant..I’m going to be home all day getting fat and crying about how fat I am ” I said laughing.
Kim and Ashley decided to Come with to Florida for a 1 and a half weeks, until i get my shit together.
” Where’s Ashley?” I asked Kim, she looked at the ground and played with her fingers she’s in the backroom.. she said she has something to tell you.
I stood up and wobbled to the back room…” Ashley ” I said, she sitting in the chair texting ..
” Sit ” She said ..
I sat down and stared at her.. ” I Saw..Dominique and she told me that her brother Elijah just moved “Ashley said I swallowed my vitamins and stared at Ashley ” What does that have to do with me ..? ” I asked, Her left eye brow rose ” Chris went with him” She said staring at me, I swallowed hard.
” Oh I don’t care..he can do w.e he wants” I said standing up, ” Sit the fuck down ” Ashley said.. I sat back down and folded my arms.. ” Will you stop trying to act strong for one moment.. Please ” She said , i looked at her.
” You know you don’t want to raise this child on your own..and I know you don’t want to depend on your father.. I don’t care if you like it or not but that child is going to need their father.. and to be honest You need him too..Start acting like it .. Yo stubborn ass ” Ashley said looking dead at me, i looked down trying to fight the tears
” It’s okay baby.. I didn’t mean to make you cry, But it’s true you know you need him” She said
” I don’t need him.. My child does ” I said with a tear falling down my eyes.
” Just promise me once we handle this moving shit you will figure shit out..i do NOT want to hear my god child was born with out knowing her father ” Ashley said ..
” How did you know she’s a girl?” I asked
” Uhh i checked your bag and saw the sonogram pics ” Ashley said..
I stood up and sat on her lap ” I love you Brownie ” I said calling her by her nick name .
” I love you more Ugly” Ashley said … ” But get yo heavy ass off of me ” I laughed.
I walked back outside and Kim was gone.. I looked at my phone and saw a text message
Michael: Wassup Big head, Hit me up when you get the chance i’m out of town this weekend but i’ll be back by the time you leave.
I smiled and closed my phone..
Ashley was right I did need Chris..but i wonder if he needs me

” My ass hurts ” Gui said stretching, We arrived in ATL almost an hour ago, we were just packing our shit in the crib that T left for us, Since he got signed with this Wayne nigga the money been rolling in..
I wanted that.
” Yo C come on ..I told you i got a surprise for you ” Elijah said .. All the boys already in the car.. I picked up my phone and followed Eli.
I wonder where the fuck where we were going ?
10 min later
I stood at the door waiting for Elijah to hurry up , Eli walked outside and opened the door , ” Okay come on ..this is my boy Michaels’ studio” Elijah said , I nodded my head and walked inside with Drew, Gui, Adrian , and Mijo behind me. ” Ight Chris you member that track i told you my friend wanted you on.. ” Elijah asked “Yeah ” I said ” Let’s make that shit official” Elijah said..” Get in there and do it FO REAL ” Elijah said, I stared at the boys and the clapped.
I Walked slowly into the Studio and sang my life way .. This was for Jerlisa, My mom, My grandmother, Clint and most importantly myself.
I walked out the studio to see some light skin nigga standing b Eli.. ” Chris this is my boy Michael i was telling you about.. Tyga meet Chris..Chris meet Tyga ” Eli said I dapped him , I was in shock this was the nigga i had been hearing on the radio for months ..
” Let’s make this happen” Michael said I smiled ” Leggo ” I said
” Augh ” Michael screamed, i looked over at Eli and smiled .
I was screaming inside.. i just wish i could spend this with Jerlisa..
